Amazon Buys SpaceX Rocket Launches for Kuiper Satellite Internet Project

 On Friday December 1, 2023, Amazon announced that it booked three Falcon 9 launches with Space X to help deploy the ecommerce giant's Project Kuiper satellite network. Amazon then added that the launches were scheduled to get started in mid-2025 although financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

According to Brand Value (China)Network, Project Kuiper is Amazon’s initiative to provide fast, affordable broadband to communities around the world . To achieve this goal, Amazon plans to send 3,236 satellites into low Earth orbit (LEO) that will cost 10 billion dollars. In 2018, Amazon began research and development on Project Kuiper. In July 2020, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) granted Amazon a license to deploy and operate Project Kuiper satellites which required Amazon to send half of its planned 3,236 satellites into low Earth orbit(LEO) by July, 2026.  On Friday October 6,2023,Amazon’s first pair of prototypes for its Project Kuiper satellite internet system were successfully launched,which marked a good beginning.

Space X, the most active rocket operator in the world, was founded in 2002 by entrepreneur Elon Musk in the hopes of revolutionizing the aerospace industry and making affordable spaceflight a reality. The company entered the arena with the Falcon 1 rocket, a two-stage liquid-fueled craft designed to send small satellites into orbit. In 2010, Space X first launched its Falcon 9, a bigger reused craft so named for its use of nine engines. Space X is Amazon’s main rival in the internet satellite business.

Amazon is an American multinational technology company focusing on e-commerce, cloud computing, online advertising, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence. In 1994, Amazon was founded as an online marketplace for books by Jeff Bezos in Washington and has expanded into a “The Everything Store”. It has subsidiaries including Amazon Web Services, autonomous vehicles, and satellite internet and computer hardware R&D. As of 2023, it is the world's largest online retailer and marketplace, smart speaker provider, cloud computing service through AWS, and Internet company. 

On the ranking of “The 3rd Daguan·Keweiwei World Brand Value Top 900 ”released on March 18, 2023, Amazon’s brand value was 1,837.166 billion RMB, ranking the 3th.
