On August 14, 2023, Nvidia stock closed up 7.1% to $437.53. because investors believe the company’s graphics processing units (GPUs) will continue to be the most profitable computer chips to power large language models. As a matter of fact, Nvidia’s stock has tripled from December 2022 to August 2023 year driven by an AI boom. As of today, Nvidia is now valued at over $1 trillion, making it the fifth-most valuable U.S. company, behind only tech behemoths Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, and Alphabet.

         On the same day, Morgan Stanley, the highest value bank on Wall Street also released a report saying that Nvidia continues to be their “Top Pick”. This bullishness is based on Nvidia’s earnings report which offers a better-than-expected forecast. According to Morgan Stanley, Nvidia remains their Top Pick, with a backdrop of the massive shift in spending towards AI, and a fairly exceptional supply demand imbalance that should persist for the next several quarters.

      According to Brand Value (China) Network, Nvidia dominates the world market for AI chips with over 80% market share. On August 8, 2023, Nvidia announced that the more powerful GH200 super chip would be available in 2024, which Nvidia said can handle “the most complex generative AI workloads, spanning large language models, recommend systems and vector databases.” The GH200, currently Nvidia’s most powerful and popular AI offering, will have the same GPU as the H100, but triple the memory capacity. China’s internet giants including Baidu, ByteDance, Tencent and Alibaba have made orders worth $1billon to buy about 100,000 A800 processors from Nvidia to be delivered in 2023 and additional $4 billion worth of graphics processing units (GPUs) for delivery in 2024.

      Nvidia is an American multinational technology company  based in Santa Clara, California. In 1993, it was founded by Jensen Huang, Chris Malachowsky, Curtis Priem with $40,000. The three founders believed that for computer graphics to advance, a dedicated GPU would be needed. Previously, computer games were entirely CPU-based because gaming industry were advancing and graphics were reliant on considerable math processing. In 2004, the company developed CUDA, a language similar to C++ used for programming GPUs, that allows programmers to directly program to the GPU. As of today, Nvidia is a dominant supplier of artificial intelligence hardware and software. In the year of 2022, NVIDIA’s  annual revenue was $26.914B, a 61.4% increase from 2021.

       On the ranking of “The 3rd Daguan· Keweiwei World Brand Value Top 900” released on March 18, 2023,Morgan Stanley’s brand value was 675.40 billion RMB, ranking the 22rd. Nvidia’s brand value was 570.376 billion RMB, ranking the 34th. Baidu’s brand value was 78.278 billion RMB. Alibaba’s brand value 769.255 billion RMB, ranking the 13rd.Tencent‘brand value was 780.083 billion RMB, ranking the 12rd.
