Apple CEO Tim Cook Attends the China Development Forum

China Brand Value Network learned that the 2024 Annual Meeting of the China Development Forum was held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing on March 24-25, where high-level domestic government officials, domestic and foreign business leaders, international organizations and Chinese and foreign scholars discussed and dialogued on the theme of ‘’Sustainable Development of China‘’ and sought opportunities for development. Tim Cook, Apple's chief executive, also appeared in Beijing for the forum and sparked a heated discussion.

Hosted by the Development Center of the State Council, the China Development Forum has been held for many years since 2000 and is considered to be a signal of China's opening up to the outside world. At the same time, the forum also keeps pace with the times and sets topics in line with the development trend of the times. This year’s forum focuses on global climate governance, artificial intelligence, and the comprehensive health industry.

According to the agenda announced by the forum, the ‘’Symposium on Carbon Neutrality and Global Climate Governance‘’ was held on the afternoon of March 24th, during which Bai Chong’en, Dean of the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University, had a dialogue with Apple CEO Tim Cook. In the panel discussion, BHP CEO Mike Henry, Standard Chartered Bank Chief Executive Bill Winters, Anglo American plc CEO Duncan Wanblad, Yili Group Senior CEO Zhang Jianqiu, Wen Shugang, Chairman of China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd., and other business leaders participated in the discussion. In his speech, Cook said that Apple, together with all supply chain partners, has used more than 15 gigawatts of renewable energy, which is a major project with global coverage.

Earlier, Cook said in response to a question from a reporter from the financial program center of China Medium Group that Apple Vision Pro headset products will be launched in the Chinese market within this year. Apple Vision Pro is Apple's first headset product announced at Worldwide Developers Conference last year, blending the digital and real worlds to create a stunning 3D interactive experience. On February 2 of this year, the Apple Vision Pro was available in the United States.

According to media reports, Cook had already traveled to China before the forum began, and on March 22, Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao met with Cook. The two sides exchanged views on Apple's development in China and China-US economic and trade relations. Wang Wentao said that China's economy is resilient, with high-quality human resources and a complete industrial system, which provides good opportunities for enterprises from all over the world. Cook said that China is an important market and key supply chain partner for Apple, and Apple is committed to long-term development in China.

On March 20, Cook tweeted on his Weibo account that he had arrived in Shanghai. There are reports that Apple's new retail store in Shanghai's Jing'an district opened on March 21. The store is the largest in Asia after the global Apple flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York, and the eighth in Shanghai.
