On Monday, January 15, 2024, Apple China announced an official shopping event ahead of the Lunar New Year in mid-February, 2024 on its official website that Apple would offer a series of discounts across a range of its products in China, including the latest iPhones. According to its announcement, between Jan. 18 and Jan. 21, 2024, Apple is offering 500 Chinese yuan ($70) off its iPhone 15 range, including the most expensive iPhone 15 Pro Max. Apple also offers discounts on certain models and the iPad.

    Analysts from Jefferies, one of the best investment bank in Wall Street, estimated that Apple experienced a 30% decline in iPhone sales year on year in the first week of January, 2024. Jefferies also pointed out, Apple saw a 3% year-on-year decline in iPhone sales in China in the year of 2023. According to Jefferies, the decline is mainly caused by rising competition from Chinese iPhone makers such as Xiaomi and Huawei, which are offering competitive high-end products at less expensive prices.
